I promise you, vinegar can actually taste delicious in a drink! Shrubs are drinks made with vinegar simple syrups mixed with juice, water, or alcohol. The honey-ginger shrub syrup is super easy to make—just make a simple syrup, which is equal parts water and sugar. Add in any spices, fruits, herbs, etc. to the mix and simmer. Then you strain and add in half as much vinegar as you have syrup! Rice vinegar is a pantry staple of mine and the secret ingredient in this shrub syrup. I used @Nakanoflavors Toasted Sesame Rice Vinegar to add tangy flavor to the syrup! This syrup is then used to make a shrub! It’s a tart, bright and refreshing drink that’s perfect for summer! Have you ever had a shrub? Look for NAKANO Rice Vinegars at your local Walmart and other retailers (?) and give them a try.
